VIZIO M221NV review
A 22 inch HD TV launched by Vizio
The M221NV is a new HD TV that was launched by the American company Vizio in 2011. It supposedly comes with the latest Vizio RazorLED technology that offers top quality display capability along with a very thin body. Does this TV deliver? Find out more from our test and review.

Good image quality
In the features department, this HD TV sports the following: smooth motion, 3D comb filter, progressive scan video, Vizio Internet apps, ECO HD and ambient light sensor. Moreover, this device’s LED lights use no mercury.
The M221NV model is a compact, stylish and very slim device. The color it comes in is black and, like the Samsung UN26D4003 TV and others, this one doesn’t occupy a lot of your room. During our test, the product’s full 1080p HD resolution offered over 2.000.000 pixels and this fact showed in the fabulous detail, sharpness and vibrancy of the images. Gaming experience was excellent; we also connected a Blu-ray player and the quality of the images was superb.
Ambient Light Sensor technology
The RazorLED technology offered rich colors and color transition remained smooth during scene transitions. Moreover, this feature made sure that the images on the screen were uniform, without blotches. The Ambient Light Sensor analyzed the lighting in our room and automatically adjusted the brightness of the screen; results were very good. On the downside, blacks on this gadget looked washed-out and the level of whites was disappointing.
We were impressed during the testing of the new Vizio M221NV for this review by its response rate, which recorded a value of 5-miliseconds.
Slow refresh rate
Another problem we encountered with this TV was its slow refresh rate. Compared to other TVs that offer 240 Hz refresh rates, the 60 Hz on this model didn’t succeed in offering a smooth transition in fast action scenes and there was some jerkiness along with some blurs.
The multitude of connectors makes sure you can do almost anything with this TV. With the 2 GDMI plug-ins you can connect digital media, the RGB makes connecting the device to the PC an easy operation and the Ethernet ports connects you to the Internet; what is more, you can connect your DVD player and Playstation via the Video/Audio port and your USB stick via the USB port.
Getting online is easy with the new M221NV, thanks to the wireless connection. The VIA Internet apps are the ones who will draw your attention the most; you will be able to listen to music, check your e-mail, stream videos and so much more with one simple click of the Bluetooth universal remote control. Some of the apps included with this TV: Twitter, Facebook, Amazon Instant Video, Yahoo TV widgets, The Weather Channel, NBC and many others.
The built-in 3-watt speakers provided good sound quality, but it could have been more impressive.
And here is where our review ends. The new Vizio M221NV is a good-looking Internet-enabled HDTV with good performance and an array of excellent features.
