A new LED / LCD 47 inch HDTV
Vizio is one of the top-notch TV manufacturers nowadays. It is a well-known fact that they produce an impressive array of options and features at different prices, from cheap to expensive. The E0VL series does not come with Internet nor with LED backlight, but it compensates by featuring superb specifications and costing little. The company launched a new TV some months ago, known as Vizio E470VLE. According to manufacturers, the product “delivers superb picture quality, audio performance, and plenty of value.” Should we trust them? We tested the TV in our lab and here is our opinion in this review.
1080p Full HD resolution
The design of a device is very important to a lot of people; the latest Vizio E470VLE is very appealing with its sleek and stylish black bezel and stand made of plastic. Measuring 44.7″ x 3.7″ x 28.4″ and weighing 17kg, the product isn’t among the slimmest and lightest TVs out there.
The front of E470VLE sports a 47″ class (with 49.96″ viewable) LCD screen. This is the first time an LCD TV meets the LED technology and we have to thank Vizio for that. The display boasts the following specs: 1080p resolution, 100.000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, a response time of 8 milliseconds and a refresh rate of 60Hz. The dynamic contrast ratio produced, by using dimensions and contrast, brighter whites and good black levels which were an important improvement when compared to those found on some of the company’s earliest models.
Superb clarity provided
What was more, the dynamic contrast ratio enabled us to watch as beautiful colors practically shone at us from the screen; we were also presented with great viewing experience in any environment; we noticed that details were rich, contrast was deep and images were very sharp on entire review time. The latest Vizio E470VLE also boasts a built-in ambient light sensor; during our tests, we liked the fact that this feature did a great job of controlling fluctuations in the brightness and then auto-adjust so that the TV obtained the best picture possible. The resolution of this TV provided over two million pixels, which translated into crystal clear details and superb clarity.
The 178° viewing angle made for plenty of wideness. We had no problem looking at the device from whatever angle we chose.
In terms of connectivity, the product ships with 1 USB 2.0, 2 HDMI (with HDCP), 1 optical digital out, 1 composite video and many more. The 2 HDMI ports present on the product helped us have access to TV cable via satellite, home theater and a Blu-ray gadget.
The E470VLE TV boasts the TruVolume and SRS TruSurround technologies along with speakers that have 20W. Vizio devices aren’t that good when it comes to quality and that is made clearer after testing TVs made by other companies.
Energy Star 4.1 certification
In the box which the device came with we also discovered one power cable, one remote control, user’s manual, a detachable base with thumbscrews, registration card and, finally, Quick Setup Guide.
Environmentalists and people who aren’t millionaires should know that the Vizio E470VLE exceeds new Energy Star 4.1 Guidelines, a short way of saying that it consumes a negligable amount of power, there’s no mercury in the LED edge lights and the device is Green Leaf-certified.
As a conclusion of our test performed for this review, the latest Vizio E470VLE is an overall nice idea if you’ve set your mind on buying a good LED LCD TV.
