A cheap 22 inch LCD TV
Another Toshiba TV we are going to review today is the new Toshiba 22LV50K. The team at Toshiba claims that this new device combines “exciting picture quality with space-saving modern design (…) that both entertains you and keeps your space clutter-free.” Is this all true? We tested this model and in this article is what we have to say about its characteristics.
1680 x 1050 resolution
The newest Toshiba 22LV50K is, as are all the company’s TVs, very appealing in terms of design. The color it comes in is black, which makes the product look both stylish and elegant with its attractive front panel Horizon design gradation and slimming tapered bezel. The product features the following dimensions and weight: 2.8″ x 21″ x 1″ and 8.61kg. These two make the TV one of the slimmest ones out there today. The appealing front panel is a 21.9″ LCD widescreen under which sit the power button and various other controls. The display sports the following specifications: 1680 x 1050 resolution, 1.000:1 contrast ratio, 5ms response time, 15:9 native aspect ratio, 720p (HDTV)/480p (EDTV)/480i (SDTV) broadcast format and 60Hz refresh rate. The rear of this TV comes with 1 component and 2 HDMI inputs with which we could watch movies in the best of conditions.
Good response time
The resolution offered, while we were testing the TV for our review, both sharpness and beautiful bright colors; it also provided 1.050 vertical lines of resolution for excellent picture quality and density of color. Brightness peak was good, so we could place this TV anywhere and, whatever the amount of natural light was, we could still get a vivid picture. While not as high as on other TVs, the 60Hz refresh rate still managed to provide fewer blurs and ghosting when compared to standard devices.
Dolby Digital/DTS compatible
The 22LV50K LCD TV ships with ATSC, NTSC and QAM tuners. They make the TV a great choice for watching movies, playing various games, watching over-the-air, digital cable-in-the-clear and off-air digital broadcasts as well as many other options.
Even though the device comes with bottom-mounted stereo speakers and Dolby Digital/DTS compatibility, the overall sound quality wasn’t that impressive. But the product made up for that by its built-in slot loading DVD player. The latter, with its ultra-slim profile, was a convenient all-in-one space saving feature. The product supports MP3, WMA, JPEG and DIVX Playback.
The latest TV from the popular Toshiba comes, as usual, with 1 component, 2 HDMI inputs, 15 pin and D-sub PC input.
In terms of power consumption, the 22LV50K from Toshiba consumed 0.5 Watt when in standby/sleep mode and 44.4 Watts when on.
In conclusion, the new Toshiba 22LV50K we tested in our labs for this review, is a good choice, because it offers great picture quality and can be placed in any corner of your house. Besides, it comes with that very nice slot-loading DVD player.
