Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-W530 review
A new 14 MP digital camera from Sony
The new Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-W530 was officially announced at this year’s CES in Los Angeles. Sony is regarded as one of the best manufacturers of digital still cameras after Fujifilm. Both companies have greatly improved their products, whether the cheapest ones or the really pricey ones. Want to know if this camera delivers? Find out more from our test and review.

SteadyShot image stabilization
In the features department we discovered the following: Battery Charger (BC-CSN), Wrist Strap, USB Cable, CD-ROM, Self-timer, Sweep Panorama, Image Stabilization, Face Detection, Intelligent Auto, Smile Shutter technology, Trimming / Red-Eye Correction, Red-Eye Reduction, Power Save Mode, Media/Battery Indicator, Digital Zoom, Smart Zoom, SteadyShot image stabilization, Anti-blink, Sony PMB (Picture Motion Browser) Software ver. 5.3, Sony PMBP (Picture Motion Browser Portable) software and many more.
Clear Photo LCD display
This little digital camera is quite a looker with its appealing design and thinness. The camera comes in five colors: pink, black, blue, green and silver. The Clear Photo LCD display is very easy to use with its user-friendly menus; when we tested it we captured beautiful sharp photos and we were able to view them even if the sun shone too brightly. when we wanted to record video in which subjects were brought closer in view and also snap outdoor photos, the Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar 4x optical zoom lens did all of that flawlessly.
Super HAD CCD sensor
After we used the 14.1 megapixel Super HAD CCD image sensor to take pictures, results were great: images were vibrant, crystal clear and the contrast on them was top notch. The Face Detection technology was of great help, because it could detect up to 8 faces of our friends; it also did the following: adjusted white balance, focus and exposure and results were excellent. And when we wanted to capture a friend’s smile on the spot, we simply used the Smile Shutter button and let the device do its thing. This technology, combined with the Intelligent Scene Recognition feature, work together to capture a smile with settings of DSC-W530 that are optimized for such a scene; and this all worked even if night had fallen.
Anti blink technology
The SteadyShot image stabilization is useful when you don’t want to have shaky and blurry images while using the device to record a movie or after you used the camera to take a photo at an important event in tour life.
When taking a photo it’s inevitable that some people will blink right when you press the button. The Anti-blink function came to the rescue by quickly warning us that a blink was detected after we snapped a picture. The Soft Skin mode quickly recognized skin tones of the subjects in the pictures and also reduced spots, wrinkles and the like.
The rest of the features worked just as great during our test for the review of Sony’s DSC-W530 digital camera.
To sum it up, the review conclusion is that this new digital camera coming from the Japanese company will surely not disappoint you: the DSC-W530 it looks good and works great.
