A new 43 inch plasma 3D HDTV

Samsung is another company that produces great quality products which are loved by people everywhere. They have recently launched a new TV, namely the Samsung PN43D490. According to Korean manufacturers, this device is pumped with a 720p resolution, it responds very quickly and makes use of the 600Hz subfield motion technology; moreover, it offers a crystal-clear image. Should the user connect the TV to a USB flash drive she or he will, for example, get immersed in music while looking at pictures. Better yet, if you start using a Blu-ray player capable of 3D along with Samsung’s 3D glasses, you’ll be able to enjoy 3D content that will amaze you. We decided to test the product for ourselves and see what it can do. Here is our review.

Just 720p HD resolution

As we all know, Samsung excels when it comes to design and their new PN43D490 is no exception with its stylish and sleek black high glossy bezel. Measuring 39.8″ x 24.5″ x 2.2″ (without stand) / 39.8″ x 27.5″ x 12.0″ with stand and weighing 16kg (without stand) / 20.32kg (with stand), this TV will fit very well in any of your rooms. The 43″ Plasma Display Panel provides a full HD resolution of 720p (1366 x 768 pixels). Samsung’s innovative new Plasma +1 TV provides narrower outer frame and bigger picture with superb colors; contrast ratios are higher than on other TVs and viewing angles are definitely wider. The device featured 600Hz Subfield motion technology which offered both crisp and clear motion. Samsung-PN43D490

Very good response time

We were pleased to see that the 0.001ms response time meant that the PN43D490 TV had an optimized fast motion video content. Also, we had no issues with using the menus and the remote control. The device comes with the possibility to play 3D movies; all we had to do was connect a Blu-ray 3D Player or other 3D device and watch the movie of our choice in the best of conditions. What was more, the processing could be applied to games, broadcast TV and legacy DVDs so that 2D viewing was easily, smoothly and automatically converted into 3D in real time.

SRS technology

The stand of this device didn’t make our hair stand on end; it proved to be very stable, considering the fact that we would hit the desk it was placed on quite a lot of times to see if it resisted our actions. The Samsung PN43D490 is, therefore, ideal if you have kids who like to run a lot inside.
Sound-wise
, the 10-watt speakers – though small – and advanced SRS technology made sure that the TV provided excellent sound quality. Voices were intelligible, richness and crispness were superior to what we had to endure from other TV sets and volume was perfect. Moreover, the speakers delivered plenty of power; they offered support for both multi-channel sound and second audio program.

Easy to connect

The latest Samsung PN43D490 boasts the following: 1 USB 2.0 Ports, 2 (version 1.4), 1 PC Input, two inputs for component audio, 1 PC Audio Input and 2 Component Video (Y/PB/PR); all of them offered a multitude of possibilities. We could easily connect digital devices or thumb drive and enjoy music and look at friends’ pictures by utilizing a very easy to use UI that we could control with the remote control that shipped with the TV.
Finally, the Samsung PN43D490 is among those TVs that exceed strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the EPA and US Department of Energy; this translates into the fact that the gadget consumes up to 30% less carbon, thus making sure that the environment and bills are well-taken care of.

All in all, after this test we have a conclusion of this review: Samsung’s latest PN43D490 is a good pick if you want a new 3D HDTV.
