Samsung P6200 Galaxy Tab 7.0
A new tablet PC at a good price
Tablet lovers have a wealth of choices to consider if they want a new device with more exciting features and better performance. But, before buying such a gadget, you have to know what you want from it.
A good option for starters
Do you want it to be just a means of attracting your friends’ looks with your latest toy? Something which will instantly become your personal TV to carry around, or radio with your favorite music or gaming platform? Or simply a device you can actually use, something which will be of help in your day-to-day activities and not something which will lay forgotten in a corner? The new Samsung P6200 Galaxy Tab 7.0 wants to fit in each of these categories, but especially in the latter. We tested it and here comes our review.
For starters, this tablet is, in our opinion, one of the most appealing ones in terms of exterior design.
PLS LCD capacitive touchscreen
The body is slick and elegant, with smooth rounded corners which make gripping a comfortable experience. The 193.7mm x 122.4mm x 9.9 mm and 345 g offer both thinness and light weight to the P6200 Galaxy Tab 7.0, so much so that holding the product in one hand raised no problems.
Entering new territory, we’ll now touch upon the subject of display. This tablet has on the front a PLS LCD capacitive touchscreen with support for a total of 16 million colors and a resolution of 600 x 1024 pixels. Our tests showed that color looked amazing, as did the contrast, brightness and other specs you’ll find in the list under our review. The interface has the famous and well-loved TouchWiz feature and the input method is multi-touch. And, since we’re at it, let’s say that the Samsung P6200 Galaxy Tab 7.0 features a proximity sensor for auto turn-off, an accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate and a three-axis gyro sensor.
Android v3.2 Honeycomb
As for storage and capacity, the tablet we tested had an internal memory of 16/32 GB (could be extended up to 64GB), which was quite impressive, considering other tablets. There’s also a microSD card slot, with up to 64GB. We could store all our favorite music, movies, games and whatever else we wanted.
To function properly, the Samsung P6200 Tab 7.0 uses an Android v3.2 Honeycomb as operating system. Manufacturers said that it will be upgradeable to version 4, called Ice-Cream Sandwich. We have no issues to report regarding this operating system, since everything went smoothly and without lags.
1.2GHz dual core processor
The processor used by the latest Samsung tablet we’re reviewing today is a 1.2GHz dual core. It was very powerful, one of the most powerful we’ve seen so far on a gadget of this kind. It gave us the possibility to multitask and every feature we wanted to access opened instantly.
Not to forget, the P6200 Galaxy Tab 7.0 has a 3.15 MP camera with 2048 x 1536 pixels, LED flash, autofocus and many other options. The photos we took with it had great quality. It also recorded good-looking videos at 720p (30fps).
Other features for this tablet: SMS (threaded view), MMS, e-mail (also push e-mail), IM, MP3/WAV/eAAC+/OGG/WMA/AC3 player, Swype and many others.
The battery used is a Li-Ion 4000 mAh.
Test results and review conclusion
