Samsung Galaxy W
A new announced Android phone
Galaxy phone series is very popular nowadays and its manufacturers have announced other four new ones to be released this year. Among them the Samsung Galaxy W; this smartphone was officially announced on the 24th of August. The release date is not yet known, but we hope it’s soon, because this new smartphone looks and sounds like it’s going to be one of the best purchases of this year. We don’t have the access to the gadget and cannot test and review for you but we hope after the release date this will be possible.
3.7 inch TFT touch display
The W in the name comes from Wonder, so there are high expectations for this device. Its design is called Candybar. No one knows its weight, but the Galaxy W smartphone measures 115.5mm x 59.8mm x 11.5 mm. The screen is a 3.7″ TFT touch and it comes with 480 x 800 pixels and 16 million colors; there will also be a proximity sensor and a light sensor. Those who have managed to give the smartphone a spin have reported that the display has the following features: multi touch input, touch sensitive controls, auto-turn off and auto-rotate. The screen is supposedly very responsive and easy to use, as are the controls and the menu. We will come back very soon with a full review.
Sylvia Chind of Three UK was very impressed by the speed and the multitasking possibilities of the new Samsung Galaxy W; according to her, this was made possible thanks to the 1.4GHz single core processor.

As for software, the product ships with Android 2.3 Gingerbread and Samsung TouchWiz interface; the latter spec will allow customers to personalize their copy of the Galaxy W. some have also talked about the device’s Social Hub application which gathers a user’s friend’s activities, be they on Facebook, Twitter and the like.
The 5-megapixel camera included with the smartphone features LED flash, face detection, image stabilizer, panorama a second VGA front facing camera, autofocus and many more; the VGA camera is intended for video calls. We didn’t test it but we believe that the camera also makes shooting videos possible at a resolution of 1280 x 720 at 30 fps. When it comes to memory expansion, the device has a microSD card slot which allows for up to 32GB.
