Paragon Hard Disk Manager 12
A solution for your hard drive management
There are still people who can’t, for the life of them, find a hard disk management package. We’ll tell them not to give up. Because this review has to do with such type of software. Paragon took it on themselves to provide the needy with the Hard Disk Manager 12. It’s already common knowledge that the 11th version was everybody’s – almost – favorite last year. We wouldn’t have wanted it otherwise, because the company sure knows how to make them swell. But when the 12th version was released, we at first wondered if it was any good. Since the previous one already had all the very good stuff. Because our interest got the best of us, we took the software on a test ride. The following review was born.
A lot of features
We pretty much got an idea about the Paragon Hard Disk Manager 12 from the very beginning. Which is that the software didn’t appear to have gone through intense make-over. We still opened it with the Express Mode. That is – for you beginners – a menu which is there to organize features into 6 categories; they are the following: tools, partitioning, security and optimization, backup and recovery, virtualization and copying/migration. Quite a number of them, don’t you think?
Moving steadily on, the software we chose to test had an Advanced Interface. It’s a tool through which users can squeeze even more power from the thing. It’s the same brilliantly easy to use feature. Digging deeper into the product, there’s where we found the novelty we didn’t discover at first. The hard drive management engine has gone through a complete change. A very positive one, we might add. The program’s hard drive support is expanded; so that it includes state-of-the-art technological developments. Like 4k sector size drives which provide 512-byte emulation, support for UEFI installations of operating systems, Hybrid Hard Drives, high-capacity SSDs and Advanced Format Drives.
What makes the Hard Disk Manager 12 different from others is, according to Paragon, the performance. We can’t disagree with that. The company’s reps are right. This is the software to really look forward to. The speed of the hot imaging operations and the hot partitioning are wonderful. Really. If all hard disk managers would work like this one, the world would be a happier place for us geeks. We almost forgot the core partitioning engine; just wow at its speed. And the backup engine employs asynchronous read and writes to make speed even better. Only the Macrium Reflect can compare with this software.
Apart from the improvement of the management engine, there’s an ability to migrate a physical disk to an environment that’s all virtual. Extremely useful and easy to achieve. Split Partition Wizard. Splitting a partition into 2 is its skill; but its other capability is to move those folders and files the user mentions into the new partition. That is sure to save a lot of valuable time. All happens in a flash, too. We only did two or three clicks to have it all laid nicely.
The security was made better via encryption for backups.
The Paragon Hard Disk Manager 12 hops into the market with good pros. The program was released only a month ago and it’s already attracting a lot of eyes. Particularly due to its improvements, performance and the very new set of features. The Internet is full of trials of this software. If you like it, then you can get it for $39.96.
