One of the best models
Lumix TZ7 has a compact design, and yet, it is one of the most appreciated cameras, mainly because it isn’t expensive at all, and from some points of view, it is even better than a DSLR camera.
Measuring only 103.3 x 59.6 x 32.8mm and weighing only 229 grams, Lumix is slightly bigger than a regular smartphone. However, it incorporates 12x zoom image-stabilized Leica lens, lens that are considered to be among the top ones, due to the image quality they are “catching”. More over, they can support a max aperture ranging from f/3.3 to f/4.9, and a focal length range that goes somewhere near 25-300mm.
High quality display
As some of the Panasonic camera owners may know, the Lumix series are known for its big display. For example, TZ7 has a 3” display, enough for the users to spot any primary image defects. As the screen can support 460,000 dots, it is obvious that transposed on a bigger screen, the pictures will be undoubtedly extremely accurate. Our tests revealed this point.
Easy to use
Though, we should have said a little bit earlier that Lumix DMC-TZ7 isn’t meant to be used by pro users. It is more of a family camera, therefore it was designed in such a manner, that would ease its usage a lot. For example, it lacks 100% of the manual focus and the manual exposure options, as these features are automated. If you ask us, that is not a big difference as the automatic features seem to do a really great job.
For instance, autofocus works well even in dark conditions, Though, if it comes to auto-shooting, then autofocus seems to be a little bit slow, as the final result consists of 1 picture shot per 1.8 seconds.
Impressive HD movies
The big surprise of this review comes from the HD recording feature. Undoubtedly, DMC-TZ7 offers one of the greatest HD recordings we’ve ever seen at a compact camera. Practically, you wouldn’t expect from a camera so small to offer such a quality. Even if this is a big “plus” for the ones from Panasonic, there is a minor disadvantage: all the recordings are drastically limited to no more than 15 minutes.
Finally, maybe the weakest part of this camera is the fact that it doesn’t have a long lasting camera: only 300 no blitz used shots per full charge. Even if this might seem enough, some travelers might find this a disadvantage.
However, considering all the above aspects, Lumix TZ7 is definitely a good camera that is money worthy, suitable for any situation. However, as it is not a pro camera, the ones that are in need of a professional pictures should definitely go for the services of another camera.
