The rival of iPhone

Even if it doesn’t even look like an iPhone, Nokia E71 is definitely the rival for Apple’s smartphone. Basically, E 71 is the upgraded version of the previous Nokia business smartphones, E 51 and E 90, version that is meant to compile speed and size, into one of the best Nokia phones that ever existed.

A business phone from Nokia

nokia-e71We’ve just said that E71 business phone; that’s mainly because its main power attributes are related to media creation (whatever means media creation: typing documents, posting on WP blogs, video recording and so on), unlike the Iphone, which is mainly focused on bringing a high quality media consumption to the users.

Difficult to type on the keyboard

With a decreased size, and yet with a high performance increase, the reviewed Nokia E71 isn’t thicker than 11 mm, ass well as it isn’t longer than 112 mm and neither wider than 57 mm. Even if they are considered upgrades, some people might not be very happy about these changes as there are some things that people won’t be able to do so well with the E71. For example, people with big hands will find it quite difficult to write notes on the phone, as the buttons are quite small and a bit hard to press especially for those without a good dexterity. Moreover, even if E71 can support video players, the screen has been reduced from 2.8 inches (E 61 had this dimension), to a small 2.4 flat screen, which isn’t quite the perfect one for viewing movie clips.

ARM 11 processor

Another upgrade is at the camera: Nokia E71 comes with a 3.2 mp camera equipped with a LED flash. Unfortunately, Nokia E71 doesn’t offer macro support for taking pictures, as it wasn’t designed to take artistic photos. Speaking of upgrades, the processor (an ARM 11 that runs 369 MHz) is 50% faster than its predecessor, and the RAM memory has been increased 3 times.

As you’ve just read in the above lines, some people (especially the ones with big hands) might find it difficult posting on Nokia E71. Though, the people will normal hands with a good typing speed will have an average of 28 words per minute, fact that isn’t that bad after all. After all, the average speed of Nokia E 61 speed in tests was pretty much the same.

GPS technology

Another thing that must be mentioned is the GPS support. You can use anytime E71 as a GPS device, and you will receive information about your location with an error range of just 10 meters. However, Nokia Maps 2.0 that allows this feature is pretty much accurate, therefore it will always show the right place on the map.

Review conclusion

As for the average price of Nokia E71, this is somewhere between $220 and 300, depending of the store where you are about to buy this smartphone, and depending of the applications you want to buy for it. Even if some of them are completely free, as it is more of a business phone, several bureau applications and managers will require some small fees.
