A new smartphone on the market
For those of you leading a business life, or just in search for an easy way to organize your life, Nokia has launched on the market the newest and smartest of the E series, namely the Nokia E6. Successor of E71 and E72, this brand new gadget comes with a handful of updates, software and hardware.Let’s see the test performed for this review.
Symbian Anna OS
The most important new feature for the Nokia E6 smartphone is the new Symbian Anna OS, which brings, among other enhancements, a better and faster use of internet, using the touch& type feature along with the well-known QWERTY keyboard, including some extra keys for accessing some main menus, like email, homepage and other.
Why is it so handy for business people? Well, the answer to this question is not that short without an advanced test. First of all, it’s shiny glass& steel appearance represents the shell for a very strong battery, approximately 14h talktime, 8GB storage space with the possibility of expanding it to 32GB with a memory slot. The VGA touch screen of E6 is also very friendly, having a high resolution with 326 pixels per inch, and also supporting the multi touch method.
8 megapixels camera
It gives the possibility for 10 mailboxes, users being able to enjoy Microsoft business solutions through Mail for Exchange and Microsoft Communicator Mobile, with secure and real time access.
And as if it weren’t enough, the Nokia E6 smartphone has a full- focus 8 megapixels integrated camera, with dual LED Flash, with support for video recording in HD. Pretty decent, isn’t it? And not to mention it also supports face detecting and Geo Tagging, quite in-fashion features, these days.
Ovi Maps application
Talking about cool stuff, we should not forget to mention that the Nokia E6 smartphone also offers real time notification support for the main social networks, in the main screen. And if you’re quite a traveler, or you just get lost very often, the new OS with Ovi Maps application helps you quickly locate yourself on the map, offering public transportation routes and others.
Now, if we were to make some comparisons with other reviewed products, in order to picture the new device, the E6 is a bit slimmer than the E5, and thinner than the BlackBerry Bold 9780. However, if the size does not matter here, then the weight must. And this makes the difference, as it is the heaviest of the E series, but not with much of a difference. It weights 133g, while the above mentioned E5 is 126g and the Blackberry Bold 9780, 122g.
600 MHz ARM 11 processor
On the other hand, if you’re more interested in the processing power, the phone has 600 MHz ARM 11 processor and 2D/3D graphics hardware accelerator. Some say that the least Nokia could have done was to increase the processor to 1GHz, but as long as the new OS functions just fine, we can consider this an envious complaint. And while we’re at mentioning weak points, another one would be the camera’s lack of Autofocus feature, which is not that bad anyway, as an upadate can be released any time in the future in order to fix the issue. The battery life, was good, as always at the Nokia phones.
This new Nokia E6 is definitely well equipped not only for business management but also for better organizing personal life. For a start price of approximately 400$ , would all these new features be enough to convince you buy it ? After the test performed for this review we believe the answer is yes !
