Logitech 1080p Webcam Pro C910 review

A full HD webcam from Logitech

Nowadays webcams have gone a long way since the first model was released many years ago. Logitech is considered a world-class leader in terms of webcam development and its new 1080p Webcam Pro C910 is one of the best devices out there. Don’t believe us? Read our test and review below.

Great image quality

One of the first things we noticed about this product was its sleek and solid design. This model is sell on the black version, which looks fine for such a camera. The external size is 1.0″ x 3.8″ x 1.6″ and the camera body is produced by plastic with glossy look. The maximum resolution of the display is 720p, a good value for a camera display; the image quality during this test was great and the video calling experience was truly amazing. The quality of the image is far superior to a lot of similar models, produced by competition. Logitech-1080p-Webcam-Pro-C910

Carl Zeiss lens

The device also features Carl Zeiss lens, 5 MP HD sensor, Intelligent Auto Light Correction and Autofocus. The stereo microphones sit on either side of the lens. The Fluid Crystal Technology and the Automatic Light Correction offered beautiful images, natural colors, great contrast and depth of field in almost all light conditions (for example: several bright rooms appeard a bit washed out, but that was all).
When we wanted to install the 1080p Webcam Pro C910, Logitech advised us to have a 2.8GHz single-core Pentium 4 on our computer; the latter had to run on one of the following operating systems: Windows Vista, 7 or XP (SP2 or higher). Moreover, when it comes to HD live chats or video recording, your PC will need to have a 2.4GHz Intel Core Duo Chip or faster, with a free USB 2.0 port and also 2GB of RAM. Finally, you’ll need a DSL modem or a cable that can offer 1MB per second upload speed.

Good sound quality

After we took some 10-megapixel pictures, after we recorded videos with this device, we easily and quickly uploaded the content to Facebook, Twitter and YouTube thanks to the webcam’s integration with iPhoto and iMovie.
The audio performance on the Logitech Pro C910 was also top notch: voices sounded very clear, loud and we heard no background noises; that was due to the device’s built-in noise cancelling circuitry. When recording a video, we could choose from various video effects; some examples: optical distortions and animated aliens.
A disadvantage when using the 1080p Webcam Pro C910 from Logitech is the fact that it can’t be covered with anything when you’re not using it; we had to aim it toward the ceiling.

Adequate Face Following technology

The Motion Detection and the Adequate Face Following features came in handy, but they didn’t both work that well; the former needs improvement, for example: the possibility to know how long to record after the device detects motion. The Mounting options were versatile.
Other cons we encountered when testing this device for our review were the following: the USB cable was way too short and there was no easy way to attach the product to our PC’s monitor. The Logitech 1080p Webcam Pro C910 webcam may start to tremble if the top of the computer’s monitor doesn’t work well with it.

Review conclusions

The rather expensive, after this review we can say that the Logitech 1080p Webcam Pro C910 is nonetheless a great choice if you grew tired with your old webcam and want a better one.
