LG 32LK330 review
A new 32 inch HDTV from LG: 32LK330
LG have announced their new HDTV LG 32LK330. According to the company, customers are in for a treat: according to LG’s web site, their newest product is “the entertainment experience you’ve been waiting for. It’s about time your entertainment stepped up to meet your expectations”. But is this TV worth a buy? Here come our test and review.
A lot of features included
First of all, here are the product’s specifications: 31.5″ x 20.0″ x 2.9″ without stand (31.5″ x 22.2″ x 8.1″ with stand), 9kg without stand (8kg with one), 32″ screen size, 31.5″ screen size diagonal, 1366 x 768 native display resolution, 70,000:1 contrast ratio (DCR), 60Hz MPRT, LCD display, Energy Star Qualified, 3 HDMI ports, USB 2.0, 720p HDTV, computer display port, NTSC, ATSC/NTSC/Clear QAM (1 Tuner), XD Engine, AV Mode (picture and sound), Mono/Stereo/Dual (MTS/SAP), 1 way 2 speakers, Dolby Digital Decoder, Infinite Sound Surround System and 2 AAA batteries included.
Some of the features of the 32LK330 are as follows: smart energy saving, intelligent sensor, 1080p source input, A/V input navigation, child lock, auto/manual clock, on/off timer, sleep timer, PC audio input and remote control.
Similar with other LG TVs
Specifications-wise, the 32LK330 is very similar to other LG TV models, such as the LG 26LK330; on the other hand, compared to the latter, our gadget has a bigger diagonal and is pricier.
Compared to other LCD TVs, the LG 32LK330 is small. The design is called Infinia, probably coming from the LG Infinia, a much-loved TV device.
Returning to its design, the 32LK330 is not beautiful enough to keep your attention for too long: it features a plastic black gloss bezel that isn’t very appealing. The framing bezel is 2″ wide and it surrounds the screen.
Weak viewing angles
When we tested the gadget, we encountered a problem with the viewing angle: at 30 degrees off center, the contrast starts to degrade. But this is counteracted by the brightness and crispness of colors: they aren’t oversaturated like those on the majority of LED TVs.
Picture quality is pretty good; fortunately it’s not an eye-sore like on LED TVs: 90% of viewing content has a good level of contrast and brightness. Everything looks consistent and uniform.
The LK330 series doesn’t come with the SmartTV functionality that’s used nowadays for Internet TVs. Nonetheless, it sports a SmartTV upgrader device. Its name: ST600 Smart TV Upgrader. This is a bonus, because it allowed us to receive new Internet TV features from LG for this review. This upgrader device is sold separately.
Not full HD display
This gadget is not a Full HD TV, unfortunately. However, it gives users the possibility to convert 1080p movies that will display sharp details. With the DivX HD you can watch movies online and the quality is excellent. The Picture Wizard II option enables the TV to self-calibrate with on-screen reference points. This results in fabulous black, tint, color, sharpness and backlight levels. The picture is automatically optimized with the help of the Intelligent Sensor feature; this sensor analyses the intensity of the light in the room and offers viewers an enjoyable experience when watching TV.
Four languages to choose
There are 4 languages to choose from: English, Spanish, French and Korean. Audio Tuning/Programming, channel add/delete and favorite channel programming are also featured. Clear Voice 2 enables an automatic differentiation between the dialogue on screen and background noises; this option can be personalized. Simplink is another useful thing: it means that you won’t need a lot of useless remote controls to control all your LG devices connected to HDMI ports.
We noticed that the LG 32LK330 doesn’t offer 3D TV compatibility or Internet TV capability.
And so we come to the end of our test and review: the LG 32LK330 series is an ideal choice for those who want a TV that offers very good performance, good image quality and is easy to use. Also, it’s much cheaper than other LCD TVs out there.
