A new LCD monitor from Lenovo

Lenovo comes to the rescue of people looking for good-sized LCD monitors with their newest Lenovo ThinkVision L1951P. This one is similar to the Samsung PX2370 in terms of price. Is the device offered by Lenovo better than other monitors out there? We invite you to find out the answer from our review below.

Basic design

In the looks department, the Lenovo L1951P is basic. The product comes with a matte black finish and it fits in any room of your house. With measurements and weight such as 20.1″ x 16.5″ x 5.6″ and 4.3kg, the monitor is not that thin or that light when compared to others offered by different companies. The bezel is 0.6″ and the panel from front to rear measures 2.1″. The device ships with a stand shaped like half an oval; this one is solid and measures 10.8″ x 7.8″.
When we tested the monitor for this review, we also moved the desk on which the monitor stood, but the latter didn’t fall on the ground that easily. Lenovo-ThinkVision-L1951P

Good ergonomics

The product sports a 19″ LCD display; the resolution it offers is 1.440 x 900. the monitor also boasts 2.000:1 contrast ratio and 16:10 aspect ratio. What we especially liked about the ThinkVision L1951P were its ergonomic features. We could easily mount it to a wall and tilt it back 20 degrees; we could also adjust its height, pivot it 90 degrees for better view in portrait mode and swivel it 45 degrees each side without any problems whatsoever. The L1951P sports a built-in webcam – pretty interesting feature, especially since others don’t have it -, 1 VGA port, a mic, 4 USB ports, a DisplayPort and, lastly, an audio-in port; on the downside, we saw no DVI port and that was why we had to buy a special adapter.

Integrated quality camera

The integrated webcam did a great job whenever we wanted to video chat with friends and loved ones: image quality was good with natural colors, sharpness and detail. And besides, we didn’t have to buy a microphone and a webcam separately.
Let’s now see how this Lenovo ThinkVision L1951P performed overall. Even though it doesn’t come with 16:9 aspect ratio, it still works well. Color was good and it had enough accuracy, decent brightness and black levels and great graphics; we saw no blurs and no ghosting. Playing games and watching movies was certainly a pleasant experience, even though not the best.

Easy to change the settings

Unfortunately, when compared to other monitors, the Lenovo L1951P didn’t ship with actual picture preset modes for text, movies, gaming and the like. But we could easily and manually adjust blue, red and green values. We found it also easy to adjust picture settings. How: by accessing a variety of keys on the panel’s lower right hand corner. We could choose from contrast and brightness – first options -, then 4 color temperature presets, namely Neutral, Reddish, SRGB and Bluish.
The device offers a 3-year warranty on both labor and parts.

Review conclusion

All in all after the test performed for this review, the latest Lenovo ThinkVision L1951P is an affordable monitor with solid performance and great ergonomic features.
