Kodak EasyShare C195 review

A new digital camera from Kodak

Manufacturers from popular Kodak have come on the market with a new digital camera. Its name: EasyShare C195. Is it as good as previous models? Or should you look elsewhere for a new device? We checked the product and here is our review.

Beautiful design

First of all, the design of this camera is beautiful; the Kodak EasyShare C195 is a really sleek, slim and thin gadget with its 3.8 x 1.2 x 2.4 inches and 175g. The 3.0″ bright LCD screen on the back made pictures we snapped look very brilliant and crystal-clear thanks to its Kodak Color Science. Menus were very easy to use during our test for this review; beginners should not worry, because after snapping a picture all they have to do is click the Share key and tag the photo to Facebook, YouTube, Kodak Gallery and the like, then connect the product to their PC and wait for the picture to be automatically uploaded to the computer via the Kodak Share button application; everything is done, therefore, with a single click. The box also contains the following: a wrist strap, a user guide, an USB cable and Kodak Alkaline AA Batteries (or equivalent).Kodak-EasyShare-C195

5x optical zoom

The gadget sports a 5X optical zoom (35 mm equivalent: 33-165 mm) which did very well in our tests; it managed to get close to subjects without affecting the quality of the resulted photo. The 14-megapixels helped us do the following: make up to 30 x 40″ prints at excellent overall quality and enlarge or crop pictures without altering their quality.
In the features department, the Kodak EasyShare C195 digital camera boasts some very good ones, such as Face Recognition, HD picture capture, Smart Capture, continuous VGA video, Picture enhancing and editing, Scene and color modes, Multimedia slideshow and, finally, Blur reduction.

HD pictures in 16:9 format

The first of these quickly and easily recognized up to 5 faces in a single photo, automatically organized up to 20 pre-tagged faces for easy sharing and locating, found and organized images and, finally, used name tags for easy sharing later. With the HD picture capture feature we could easily snap HD pictures in 16:9 format and afterwards look at them on a HDTV or other HD products. The Smart Capture option effectively identified scenes and then adjusted the settings of the C195 camera so as to assure the best photo ever in almost any environment.

A lot of settings

This feature included three settings: an Intelligent capture control, an Intelligent scene detection and an Intelligent image processing; the former automatically set the settings of the device in order to have sharp photos in any lighting condition, while the latter greatly cleared up dark shadows and reduced noise. The Intelligent scene detection of analyzed a scene and offered excellent results in different lighting conditions. The continuous VGA video feature of Kodak C195 let us record life in motion videos with sound and on-camera editing. With the Picture enhancing and editing option captured details with the help of multi-field search and text tagging and also provided great photos via picture rotation, cropping, self-timer and the like.

Very good blur detection

Scene and color modes included things like Portrait, Fireworks, Auto, black & white, sepia, vivid and many more. Multimedia slideshow came with pre-installed creative transitions and sound themes that made our slideshows beautiful. Finally, the Blur detection feature did its job superbly when we tested the device for this review on fast-paced subjects or content on TV.

Review conclusions

In conclusion, the Kodak C195 digital camera is a good idea if you want to buy yourself a new device.

I agree, this is a very nice camera. It takes nice, high quality pictures and videos. It’s easy to use, with a nice large screen, and plenty of memory. The face recognition feature is something I have never encountered before, and I really like it – it makes it really easy to find pictures.
