Kaspersky AntiVirus 2011

A new version of a powerful AV

Remember the PC magazines that were giving CDs with demo games and free shareware programs? Remember what used to write on every CD? “Scanned with Kaspersky against virsuses and malaware”. In fact, Kaspersky has always been one of the top antivirus software, and the number one choice of a high number of people (from Europe and not only).
Before entering into details, the 2011 version of the Kaspersky software is one of the best so far, with lots of advantages offered and very few cons. For example, the 2011 version brings a whole new user friendly interface and a speed scan that doesn’t require too much of the system resources.

Good detection rate

Nowadays, Kaspersky Anti Virus 2011 is on the US market at a price of $60/license (for 3 computers). Based on the history of the brand, but also on the reviews and tests of the users and laboratories, Kaspersky seems to have an efficiency of 98%.

The first thing the users come in contact with is the installation part, which is user friendly and can be done even by persons who have never installed such a software. It’s more of a “next-next-next” type of installation, therefore there shouldn’t be met any difficulties. Moreover, unlike other antivirus software, Kaspersky can be installed even on malaware infected systems and more than that, it can start its work from its very first moment of functioning. Though, there are people who claimed that they’ve installed Kaspersky on infected systems without any positive result; though, from tests that have been made on this matter, this kind of situations happen only in less than 10% of the cases.

Minor bugs

As concerning the scans, it’s good to know that Kaspersky 2011 takes really in serious every threat in part. However, some users reported a minor bug: if a reboot of the system is necessary in order to pass over a point of the scan, whenever the system is started again, the scan starts from scratch instead of scanning from the point where the system needed a reboot. Though, the scan can me customized in such a manner that it won’t pass through the files that haven’t suffered any changes.

Not so efficient ?

If there is one thing that must be kept in mind, is to update as often as possible Kaspersky 2011. After all, the virus “market” is developing each day more and more, therefore ignoring the updates might definitely put your computer in danger. For example, several tests made by specialists on a not updated Kaspersky have shown that Kaspersky 2011 can detect only 74% from all the present threats that are spread all over the world.

Review conclusions

Finally, it’s important to know that KAV 2011 isn’t to responsive for the most of the keyloggers, mainly because they can be used perfect legally in companies, therefore it’s not quite a disadvantage. Though, its rate of detection in the malaware area is quite high (about 89-95%), therefore most of the users can browse all over the net without any worries.
