Huawei Ascend D Quad
A phone powered by Android 4.0
Huawei has been in the game for a long time now. And it doesn’t send off signs that it would get tired any time soon. These past couple of years have seen many superb smartphones from them. That’s why many consumers rely on them to get a new phone or give one as a present to people they care about. We got to test quite a few of them and in the majority of cases we were very pleased of their performance. The new Huawei Ascend D Quad has a pretty laughable name. But it’s their latest smartphone and one to look out for. Our review will tell you why we say that.
The Ascend D Quad from Huawei is still fresh from the oven. The handset has just been brought to the attention of MWC participants in Barcelona. Since we had the opportunity to go there ourselves, we made use of the time spent there as wisely as possible.
We can honestly say that the device is one of Huawei’s most brilliant phones. The moment we took it and held it we could tell that. The aesthetic made us think of Samsung. The simplicity won us over. That goes to show that less is more. Even with gadgets. The corners are pleasantly rounded. The camera has eye-catchy accents painted red; they’re continued on the grilles sitting on the back. The body is so very slim. Our hand didn’t feel like it would crush under the weight. So apart from being thin and slim, this phone is also light.
Yes, the display is large. That is right, but that doesn’t affect the comfort. Only if your hands are small. The screen impresses us a lot. Looking at it we were shot with plenty of excellent colors; the brightness being the cherry on top. The resolution is incredible in its own way. Due to these specs all coming together nicely, no issues with text and icons arose in tests. Videos and pics looked extra good.
The Optimus 4X HD and the One X made by rivals have astounding CPUs. The Ascend D Quad has one which felt fast. Almost as better as what those two phones have. The navigation between home screens, the browsing of the net and so on didn’t produce lags. Playing games with powerful graphics didn’t break the device. Not even once did the phone get into fits of stuttering. Videos in high resolutions were played back smoothly.
Ice Cream Sandwich OS
The camera struggled while snapping pics. And that showed in the average results we got in our review analysis. The one via which we video called people was quite capable.
You can come out now: there’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on the Ascend D Quad phone. Yes, you heard that right. Now we’re waiting for other companies to introduce this OS. The UI is really neat. We were given the possibility to unlock the device using our face.
Applications are a smartphone’s pride and joy. And a consumer’s paradise. Unless your boss catches you playing too much with them. The Ascend D Quad has thousands of them. Customization was a blast when we did it. The widgets we used made the screen look original.
Huawei’s Ascend D Quad is an almost complete smartphone. Almost, because the battery life didn’t last as much as we’d have hoped. But if you use the handset wisely, the CPU won’t affect the device’s lifespan quite that much.
