HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE
A not impressive smartphone
Few smartphones have what it takes to make an impact on consumers. The usual names to do that are those made by Apple, Samsung and HTC. The latter had a very successful time when it launched its Droid Incredible in 2010. Now the Taiwanese company wants to reiterate that struck of gold. But after testing the new $149,99 Droid Incredible 4G LTE, we realized that there is no way the first Droid Incredible would be inferior to this model. Our review will tell you why.
HTC took the decision to keep the same looks on the third Droid Incredible version. If you have never own such a phone, its design is very particular. Its appearance won’t strike you as similar to all the other smartphones’ in stores today. It certainly looks like something which landed from a sci-fi movie. The only thing were it makes a discordant note is its weight: only 4.66 ounces. Its predecessor was heavier. This model measures 4.8″ x 2.4 inches” x 0.46″.
Moving on to the 4″ screen, we noticed it was a bit larger than what the iPhone 4S has to offer. This Super LCD display has a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels. The colors we experienced were of great quality. But sharpness is not a pro. Details when there were dark scenes were very visible. And viewing angles did not pose a problem.
For this review we also tried out the phone’s only keyboard. The feedback they offered was haptic and overall we enjoyed its buttons’ ease of use. They did not feel sloppy or hard to press.
1.2GHz dual-core processor
The features presented by the Droid Incredible 4G LTE are all of the kind you’ll see on any phone working with an Android operating systems. You will also get, beside those, extras such as Google’s various services, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS just to mention a couple of them.
The operating system is not the Jelly Bean. What you get instead is the previous version, the Ice Cream Sandwich. But there is no way this OS will disappoint. It works very well and the user interface retains its smoothness of use. To make all of this possible, HTC upgraded it.
Where the original Droid Incredible had an amazing processor, the CPU on this model is much more inferior: 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4. It’s generally slower than the 1.5GHz dual-core S4 on other smartphones made by HTC. Besides being slower, though, this kind of processor did not show lags for us in tests.
Since a camera is something that will automatically come with a smartphone, the Droid Incredible 4G LTE also has one, an 8MP model. There was plenty of good color going on in the shots we took. The camera is able to snap a pic in less than a second. Which is always an excellent thing if you want to capture images quickly. Videos did not look as good as the pictures, but they were still better than average.
When we used the HTC Incredible 4G LTE for speaking with our friends, the phone acted remarkably well. We could understand our buddies without problem and they said the same thing about how we sounded to them.
Data speed via 4G is is fast. But the battery didn’t see an upgrade. What it offers are 7 hours when continuously watching a movie in high definition.
The HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE does not impress that much. At least not as much as the original model did.
