HTC Droid Incredible 2
A 3G smartphone
I must confess: when it comes to smartphones, the one I want the most at this moment is undoubtedly HTC Droid Incredible 2. Until now, I’ve never been able to review and test this smartphone for real, therefore now, that It has just arrived in my hands, I won’t hesitate to review it and share my opinions about it with you.
First of all, a little bit of history
Mobile World Congress 2011 revealed the latest version of the most popular smartphone in 2010, HTC Incredible. The upgraded version, HTC Droid Incredible 2 comes out with some improvements, and as far as I’ve seen, it was meant to be used easier by the people who do not have any experience at all with the smartphones.
Similar design with first version
However, HTC Droid Incredible 2 doesn’t bring too many things related to the improvement of the design: some round concave corners here and here, but nothing more. In fact, the aspect is pretty much the same as its predecessor’s. However, the official sizes are a bit bigger: 4.75 inches tall by 2.52 inches wide and only 0.48 inch thick. In fact, you will see for yourself, HTC Incredible 2 appears to be extremely wide, but that is mainly because its thickness barely crosses the 1 cm limit.
Super LCD display
As for the display, HTC Droid Incredible 2 comes with a 4-inch( 480×800-pixel Super LCD) touch screen. The displayed colors are not bad at all: in fact, the brightness (at its default level) is just perfect for this display, as well as the contrast does a pretty good job. However, once I’ve tested the touch screen in the sunlight, nothing on the display could be read anymore. However, few of the screens can be read in a strong sunlight, therefore nothing to say to bad here. In fact, I was quite satisfied of the image obtained on the display.
Android 2.2.1 operating system
As for the performance, unfortunately, Droid Incredible 2 runs Android 2.2.1 and not Android 2.3 Gingerbread. However, at least for now, Android 2.2.1 has the most features, unlike 2.3 Gingerbread. From this point of view, it was a clever measure to put this OS on this phone. Though, HTC has already announced that somewhere in the Q3 of 2011, they will release a new version of Droid Incredible 2, version that will have only its OS upgraded to the 2.3 Gingerbread version. However, Android 2.2.1 will run most of the usual Android apps, therefore no need to worry, from this point of view.
HTC Incredible 2 smartphone comes with 2 cameras. One of them is front faced and it is a regular 1.3 mp camera. This one doesn’t deliver too much quality, but it will do its job in a decent way. Though, if it comes to the rear faced camera, well, find out that it is an 8 mp camera that has no problem in shooting in HD at 720p. As well, video recording runs as expected, even in a HD mode at 720p. If you ask me, that’s quite impressive. You don’t see to often smartphones capable of sustaining an 8mp camera, do you?
The only weak part that I was able to find at this gadget is that HTC Droid Incredible 2 comes only in a 3G version. This means that if you want a 4G smartphone, this gadget is definitely not for you, even though many people would have loved to get 4G at Droid Incredible 2. Otherwise, it is a great phone, and I am going to buy it in a few days.
