Fujitsu Stylistic Q550
A Windows 7 OS based tablet PC
If all you’re interested in is a top-notch tablet, then Fujitsu’s Stylistic Q550 is your ideal choice. On the other hand, if all you want is a device with excellent processor, then find another tablet, because this one will most definitely disappoint you in that area. Finally, if you just want a gadget to parade through town with, this one is your match. Anyhow, for detailed information on this tablet, please consult the following review.
Good display quality
Fujitsu has, along the way, pleased its fans with greatly done devices in terms of design and that’s the case with this Q550 as well. The material around the body looks subtle and is smooth; it moreover offers the tablet resistance when gripping it for use. Another great thing about Stylistic Q550 tablet was that it offered plenty of drag on the display, making it easy for the pen to glide over it smoothly. Its edges are rounded, which means that it won’t dig into the palm of the user.
The 907g it shipped with made the Stylistic Q550 feel extremely comfortable when we took it into our hands. Moving on from the weight aspect, the tablet sported a matte finish on the display; the 160 degrees of viewing angle provided by the screen were doubled by 400 nits of brightness which, combined, made for superb visibility when we used the device in almost every type of light (including the indoor and outdoor ones); and when we scratched the screen, we saw it didn’t register the damage and looked as great as before scratching it. The display has 1280 x 800 pixels of resolution.
1.5GHz Intel Atom Z670 processor
This gadget provides a dual digitizer for multitouch use and there’s even active pen input powered by a battery. We had to apply firmer presses to make it work and the detection range of the before-mentioned pen was, when we tested it, shorter than the one offered by other such writing utensils. But the thing is that this pen is very accurate when it comes to the touch part, so those flaws are easily forgotten. To hold it we used the tether it comes with.
On to processor matters. The Fujitsu Stylistic Q550 is quite the disappointment when looking at the processor, which is a 1.5GHz Intel Atom Z670. It’s pointless to say, but we’ll do it: whenever we opened a program or did some multitasking, we immediately wished we hadn’t, because it practically made the tablet transform itself into a snail. I think this is one of the slowest CPUs we ever came across during our reviews.
Medium battery life
You could try to make the performance better by increase the minimum performance by almost 80% when in default settings, but it still won’t be similar to the great performance offered by really powerful processors. We guess that Fujitsu added this one in order to extended the battery life and make the tablet stay cool; heat in this case came out through the device’s rear and side ports.
The hardware offers 1 USB port, Smart Card slot, 1 SD card slot, fingerprint reader and many more where those came from. The battery life was medium.
The tablet sports 2 cameras, one on the front and one on the back, but they both took crappy photos.
To sum it up the test performed for this review, the Fujitsu Stylistic Q550 is great for people who want a solid low weight Windows 7 tablet with great battery and enterprise-level options.
