A new powerful 15 inch laptop

The popular and beloved Dell company has released a new laptop on markets everywhere. The device is called Dell Studio XPS 15 i7-2630QM. We have come to expect very good quality from the team at Dell. But does their new laptop rise up to people’s expectations? We tried to find out by testing the product in our lab and here is what we found.

Full HD display resolution

As with other Dell laptops, this one is also good-looking. Sure, it’s not as appealing as the Dell Inspiron M5030 2800B3D, but it’s certainly more beautiful than other products out there with its Elemental Silver Aluminum design. The XPS 15 i7-2630QM comes with the following weight and measurements: 6.80kg and 10″ width. The front of the product sports a 15.6 INCH FHD LCD display which houses specs such as 1920 x 1080 resolution, NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M Graphics with 1GB video memory and 16:9 aspect ratio. The latter spec enhanced our viewing experience. The laptop we’re reviewing today also boasts a backlit keyboard which was very responsive and easy to use, a 2-megapixel webcam, TV tuner and integrated stereo speakers.Dell-Studio-XPS-15-i7-2630QM

Powered by i7-2630QM processor

The Dell Studio XPS 15 features a 2.0GHz 2nd generation Intel Core i7-2630QM processor. This one boasts the following: Turbo Boost 2.0 up to 2.90 GHz, 6MB Cache, 750GB SATA 7200 RP hard drive and 6GB DDR3 SDRAM system memory. Multitasking was a breeze and 32- and 64-bit computing didn’t mean a decrease in the product’s overall performance.
In the graphics department, the laptop sports NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M Graphics with 1GB video memory, Tray Load Blu-ray Disc BD-Combo and Optimus. The feature provided the device with great performance, various interesting features and power efficiency. Moreover, we were able, when we tested the device for our review, to play graphic-rich games and work with large video files without any problem whatsoever.

Windows 7 included

In terms of operating system, the Dell Studio XPS 15 runs on Windows 7 Home Premium (the 64-bit version). It was easy to create a home network and share all of our favorite photos, music, videos and the like with friends and family and also watch shows for free with the help of Internet TV on Windows Media Center. Manufacturers at Dell provided their latest laptop with Microsoft Office Starter 2010. When we wanted to get the full suite, all we had to do was buy a product key and activate an ad-free version of it.
The integrated 2-megapixel webcam performed well in our tests. Image quality was good and we could video chat with loved ones without problems.

Good sound quality

The sound quality of our conversations was also good, thanks to the laptop’s pair of stereo speakers (featuring Waves Maxx Audio 3); they offered a total power of 2 Watts and the mic was great. Files were easily transferred with the help of the 9-in-1 memory card reader.
The Dell Studio XPS 15 has 750GB SATA 7200 RP hard drive and 6GB DDR3 SDRAM system memory. In the connectivity department, this laptop sports 3 USB 2.0, 1 HDMI, 1 headphone jack and 1 RJ-45 Ethernet. It also comes with 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet and Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1030 Wireless LAN, Tray Load Blu-ray Disc and 8x CD/DVD Burner.

Review conclusion

All in all, the review conclusion is that the Dell’s newest laptop XPS 15 powered by i7-2630QM processor is a great choice if you’re into gaming, watching movies, and chatting with friends and family via a webcam.
