Canon ELPH 310 HS / IXUS 230 HS

A long awaited point and shoot camera

Canon is a leading name in the industry of electronics. The company has a long-running history throughout which it manufactured a multitude of compact digital cameras, digital camcorders, lenses, inkjet printers and the list could go on. Their newest device which is expected to hit stores in October is called ELPH 310 HS / IXUS 230 HS and it is expected to deliver by the legions of Canon fans everywhere. If you plan to buy it, we wrote the following review for you after testing the gadget. Maybe it will be helpful.

Very small dimensions

At first look, the latest Powershot ELPH 310 HS / IXUS 230 HS is a striking digital camera. It is available in six colors, namely: black, purple, blue, silver, pink and green. Measuring 96mm x 57mm x 22 mm and weighing 140g, this is one of the slimmest and lightest products in its category. You will have no problem carrying it around in holidays or at work.Canon-ELPH-310-HS-IXUS-230-HS

4x Optical Zoom

The device we’re reviewing today is called ELPH 310 HS / IXUS 230 HS and comes preinstalled with an 4x optical zoom and 28mm wide-angle lens; while the former is really impressive for a digital camera, the latter features optical image stabilization. When we tested the gadget, this feature translated into the fact that we could easily take photos from a variety of distances without having to deal with awful image quality. And, if you’re worried about blurs, don’t: the Canon ELPH 310 HS / IXUS 230 HS has an Intelligent IS system that delivers undistorted content no matter shooting conditions; it does so by choosing from six modes and optimizing image stabilization.

12.1-megapixel CMOS sensor

The sensor this digital camera uses is a 12.1-megapixel CMOS one. The sensor sported a DIGIC 4 Image Processor and HS System which made sure that the photos and videos we shot were enhanced and noiseless whenever we were in environments with bad light and used high ISO speeds; it also expanded the dynamic range in darker settings, which meant that images had greater colors and details. The camera also came with High-Speed burst mode and Smart AUTO; the latter analyzed colors, brightness faces and many more and then selected the best settings based on 21 scenes for video and 32 predefined shooting scenes for photos; the High-Speed burst mode allowed us to snap pictures whose subjects were unpredictable or moved too fast and it did so by up to 8.7fps.

108op Full HD resolution

When it comes to shooting videos, Canon’s latest camera is able to offer 108op 0f Full HD video recording; we found it easy to optically zoom while filming, unlike with other such products. The Movie Digest mode of ELPH 310 HS / IXUS 230 HS was very interesting, because it did the following: it shot a four-second video before snapping a still after which it combined the videos we recorded into one single clip. What is more, the device works with iFrame, which means that users can edit and share content via online social networks.
In terms of battery life, the gadget uses a rechargeable Li-ion battery NB-4L.

Review conclusion

And so we’ve come to the end of this test and review. The Canon ELPH 310 HS / IXUS 230 HS is, without a doubt, an exciting new released. We liked it and highly recommend it to future buyers.
