Avira Premium Security Suite review
A new security software from Avira
Some think that Avira Premium Security Suite is a great product; others see it as only an auxiliary choice. Who is right and who is wrong? We tested the program and here is our review.
Compatible with Windows OS
Before installing it, you should know what requirements are necessary and how much of your PC’s resources will the Avira Security Suite require. The software is available for free download on the producers website. This product is compatible with Windows 2000, SP4 and Update Rollup 1, Windows XP (32 or 64 Bit) SP2, Windows 7 (32 Bit or 64 Bit) and Windows Vista (32 Bit or 64 Bit) SP1; you will need a minimum of 256 MB RAM (for Windows 2000 and Windows XP), a minimum of 150 MB of free disk space required (additional temporary and quarantine space needed) and a minimum of 1024 MB RAM (for Windows Vista and Windows 7). We recommend an installation on a PC that runs Microsoft Windows XP, because our tests show that the suite consumes fewer resources that way.
Fast and smooth installation
During our test for this review we encountered no issue whatsoever with installation; everything went smoothly and fast. Once the process ended, we had to update the detection database and choose a complete system scan for security. From then the product was extremely easy to set up. if you’re a beginner and you encounter problems you can access the product manuals that come with this security solution; when that didn’t help us we gave a call to customer support or we went online and looked for solutions on the company’s forums.
Firewall and Proactive protection
Some of the features sported by the Avira Security Suite include Firewall, Proactive protection against rootkits, Prevents infection when downloading and surfing the web, stopping of all types of viruses, Quick Removal, AntiSpam, Parental Controls, Netbook Support and many more.
In the performance department, this suite gave pretty good results; it offered protection against Trojans, Viruses, Spyware, Adware, Keyloggers, Identity Theft, Worms, Hijackers, Popups Tracking Threats, Phishing, Rogue Anti-Spyware, Unwanted Software, Potentially Malicious Websites and IP blocking thanks to its WebGuard program. The latter also provided protection against codes which could be executed in a HTML page using I-frames.
All these said we end our review saying that the Avira Security Suite is a good choice, because it offers quality performance an doesn’t destroy your PC’s resources.
