AVADirect Quiet X79 Gaming PC

An affordable desktop solution

Gaming desktops to fit your need to have quiet when you play a game are not that rare on the market. AVADirect Quiet X79 is a system that can relate to those specific needs without flinching. It’s packed full with a gamer’s every favorite thing. And their performance is what a serious gaming desktop should be able to produce. For a $3,100 price tag, the unit does a lot of things right. For a price that is cheaper than what it competes against. In short, this product is very competitive. We reviewed it and found the following exciting info about it.

Nice looking design

The AVADirect Quiet X79 is a flawless beauty. Both on the outside and on the inside. Its case is a white one previously featured on the NZXT H2. But it’s not fully white. The body of this gaming desktop has some accents on its front tower door. They are joined by LEDs glowing white and blue. Its design will probably look familiar. That’s because it is similar to what Polywell did with their Ignition X7900i-3960, a system much more expensive than the model we’re reviewing today. Compared to the looks on that model, the AVADirect Quiet Z79 appears cleaner and simpler. Many a gaming desktops PCs these days are absolutely addicted to being flashy. This one stays away from that – in the majority of cases – visual madness.AVADirect-Quiet-X79

Blu-ray optical drive included

Getting up and looking at the unit from above, we saw its top panel was the place where several connection options stood. Like 1 USB 3.0 port, a fan controller with 3 speeds, 3 USB 2.0 ports, jacks for connecting a mic and a pair of headphones and, finally, the key for switching the system on. The fan vent on the top is hidden by a a plastic cover that’s magnetic. That doesn’t imply an impossibility to improve airflow. The latter can be achieved if the user removes that plastic cover. A hot-swappable drive bay equipped with SATA is also kept protected with a cover.

The rest of connectivity options sit on the front of Quiet X79. These are the ones we meant: one other USB 2.0 port, one Blu-ray (BD-RE) optical drive and 65-in-1 card reader. The card reader supports MS/Pro/Duo, SD/MMC, xD, CF/MD and microSD media card formats. But the funny part is yet to be mentioned: there are more connections where those came from! One USB BIOS flashback port, 6 USB 2.0 ports, a Gigabit Ethernet port and many various other ports. By George, consumers will practically drown in so many possibilities. But rather than have only a USB port and such, we prefer this extremely generous offer.

120GB SSD storage

When the side panel of the Quiet X79 was pulled off in our tests, we came across a 120GB SSD. And then we also chanced upon a 2TB Western Digital hard drive. Cooling is delivered by five fans. They were a pro point for sure: not a single noise came from them while we did our work.

The processor was so good, that it flew through tests like they were nothing. Performance was incredible. A Photoshop CS5 was over and done with quickly: in only 2 minutes. Wowza. Gaming tests delivered 40fps when we played Lost Planet 2. For which we used high detail settings, a resolution of 1,920 x 1080 and 4x anti-aliasing.

Review conclusion

Yup, there is such a thing as greatness when it comes to gaming desktops. The AVADirect Quiet X79 comes with a good price and great value for it.
