Asus PA246Q ProArt

A new technology: IPS panels

The latest monitor launched by Asus is called PA246Q ProArt and is able to offer more colors, better speed and good viewing angles. In fact, with the help of this monitor, graphic designers or professional photographers can have full access to about 98% of Adobe’s RGB color profile. This a value difficult to obtain for almost all other monitors.

The new IPS technology seems to offer a lot of pleasant surprises. Compared to the old / classic technology, you can see that this is able to provide better colors, better speed and better viewing angles. At first look, this technology seems to be a real step forward.

A lot of colors for professionals

asus-pa246q-proartThe purpose of launching the PA246Q monitor is to win over customers who buy products for image professional use. This monitor uses the IPS technology, more precisely a sub-technology called P-IPS. This monitor is able to display about 98 percents of Adobe RGB color profile and 100% of the sRGB profile. This is very good news, because this means that virtually the entire spectrum is captured by a normal digital camera. You probably know that almost all TFT / LCD monitors for the general public aren’t able to display all the colors. In fact, they can display fewer colors than the RGB, but remain largely sufficient for their owners’ use.
Another interesting feature of this gadget is called “Virtual Quickfit Scale”. This technology is able to display wide document with the help of grids with the same size. This seems to be a good monitor for users of Adobe Photoshop. However, other features of the PA246Q are the resolution (with about 1900 x 1200 pixels), the contrast ratio (1000:1) and a response time of about 6ms. However, the response time and contrast ratio couldn’t be tested by us, because the monitor is still not available to buy.

The display is easy to rotate and has a lot of features

You can use this monitor in portrait or landscape (you are able to rotate the display). This 24-inch gadget can also move at different angles according to the user’s needs. The monitor has a lot of connectivity options. We can add here the most important ones: HDMI 1.3, DVI, D-sub, 2 USB ports and 3.5mm minijack. Another interesting and useful feature is the inclusion of a memory card reader (able to read MS, MSPRO, MSDuo, SM, xD, SD, MMC memory cards).

Review conclusion

The PA246Q is still not available in stores, but it will be launched at the end of this month. The announced price of the latest Asus monitor is about 499 euros.
