A new 24 inch LCD monitor from AOC
If you are in need of a monitor to connect to your laptop or PC, AOC have released a new one. Its name: AOC 2436VH. The company might not be as popular as others such as HP, Samsung and many more, but its products are really good. Don’t believe us? Well, we tested the device and here is what we found.
Elegant and sleek design
First things first, in terms of design, the latest AOC 2436VH looks elegant and sleek with its piano black glossy finish body. The product has the following measurements and weight: 16.8″ x 2.6″ x 22.9″ (without stand) / 22.9″ x 16.8″ x 2.6″ (with stand) and 5.48kg. These mean that the monitor we’re reviewing today is among the slim and light ones which are available on the markets worldwide today. The 24″wide screen is actually a 22″ one, because the rest is simply a black useless border around the display. We wanted to correct this problem, so we used the soft buttons on the display; surprise, surprise: nothing happened. You might want to consult a specialist, because this issue is surely easy to solve; we just didn’t figure out how.
Full HD resolution
The bottom right corner boasts the following buttons: menu, increase, decrease and, finally, power indicator. On the rear of 2436VH sit a Kensington lock, 2 USB, 1 HDMI, 1VGA and 1 Audio Jack ports along with 1 Power-in input. We could watch a movie, look at photos and play games without problems.
The screen sports the following specs: full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 and 100.000:1 high contrast ratio, 55~75 Hz vertical refresh rate, 16:9 aspect ratio, 0.276mm pixel pitch and 250 cd/m2 brightness. The latter translated into an improved and enhanced performance when comparing this monitor to its predecessors.
Good response time
During our test for this review we liked the fact that the device was easy to tilt and rotate and we also liked the monitor’s viewing angle, because we could stand directly and see everything in the best of conditions. Interestingly enough, the monitor has an animated help sequence, so new AOC users should have nothing to worry about after purchasing the company’s latest 2436VH model.
The 5ms response times makes this one of the fastest monitors out there. The device came with touch sensitive controls and user friendly graphical OSD menu; both of these were very responsive and easy to use (the product includes AOC proprietary i-Menu software OSD).
Impressive overall performance
In terms of overall performance, the latest AOC 2436VH was impressive. Image quality was very good thanks to the vivid, bright colors and crystal clear details; moreover, blacks looked black. When we watched HD movies we were blown away by the great quality the monitor provided and playing games was a beautiful experience; everything looked almost like 3D.
The product consumes 49W and it comes with a 3-year warranty for labor and parts.
In the box this device came with we found the following: documentation, installation CD, 1 power cable, 1 VGA cable and 1 HDMI cable.
As we near the end of our review, all we can say is that the newest AOC 2436VH is a good buy thanks to its impressive overall performance, great image quality and affordable price. But, if you want a superior monitor with lots of features, then you should look elsewhere.
