A new 23 inch LCD monitor
The popular and beloved Acer has come with a new monitor on the market. The device is called Acer ET.VV3HP.A01 and it’s supposed to be one of the best of its kind. Acer is well-known for the quality of their products, but does this new monitor rise up to expectations or not? We decided to test their latest monitor and here is our review.
1080p Full HD resolution
To start things off, here are some words about the design of this new Acer ET.VV3HP.A01. As we all know, Acer monitors are sleek, elegant and stylish. The new model isn’t an exception with its appealing black and slim body. It measures 12″ x 9″ x 9.5″ and weighs 6.80kg, so it’s among the slimmest and lightest devices of its kind out there. The color it comes in is the standard black, as we mentioned earlier on.
The ET.VV3HP.A01 is a 23″ LCD flat panel TFT active matrix display with the following specs: 1920 x 1080 resolution, 1080p full HD video format, 0.265 mm Pixel Pitch (or Dot Pitch), 16.7 million colors, 5 ms response time, 16:9 image aspect ratio, 300 cd/m2 image brightness and 80.000:1 dynamic contrast ratio.
The 16:9 aspect ratio provided, when we tested the device for our review, both accurate and clear colors and the fast response time, we were pleased to see, produced minimal tearing on high res games when the sync was turned off, very minimal tearing on high res when the sync was on and we noticed no ghosting whatsoever; moreover, it made this one of the fastest monitors out there. The 300 cd/m2 peak brightness was, at first, a bit too much for our eyes, but luckily we could adjust it and the contrast to values that didn’t make us cry and which ensured a great viewing experience. The 16.7 million colors helped the monitor attain natural-looking images with very beautiful colors.
Deep contrast provided
The 80.000:1 dynamic contrast ratio of VV3HP was enough, when we tested the monitor, to produce, through dimensions and contrast, brighter whites along with good black levels. The latter were improved when compared to those on the device’s predecessors. What was more, the dynamic contrast ratio provided beautiful and vibrant colors which radiated off the screen and offered great viewing experience; details were rich, contrast was deep and images were very sharp. Finally, the 16:9 image aspect ratio helped us watch movies or view photos over a broader cinematic area which resulted into an exciting viewing experience.
Eco friendly too
The rear of the latest Acer ET.VV3HP.A01 sports 1 VGA and 1 DVI (HDCP). In terms of viewing angle, everything went well: we could look at the monitor from any position and still see everything clearly. The stand looked solid, so we didn’t have to worry about what would happen if we’d hit the table it sat on by accident. This product is, therefore, great for people with small children.
What we didn’t like about the newest device was the fact that it didn’t feature built-in speakers; we had to buy a set of external ones.
The device is an eco-friendly one, because it complies with ENERGY STAR standards and it consumes less power than others: 31.7 Watts when turned on. The warranty: 3 years for both labor and parts.
As we reach the end of our review, all we can say is: the Acer ET.VV3HP.A01 is a good choice if you’re looking for a new monitor with good performance, affordable price and the possibility to place it in any corner of your house.
